Ramli bin Ismail is a registered voter in Port Dickson. He has recently written a letter to the Elections Commission to reconsider the candidacy of Anwar. He thinks that the qualification of Anwar is not legal.

He wants the Elections Commission to deny the right to contest that Anwar has. He should not be allowed to participate as a candidate in the upcoming by-elections.

This is because the King has only given him a ‘Pengampunan Penuh’ instead of a ‘Pengampunan Bebas’. The latter is required for standing in elections.

If this technicality is proven to be correct, Anwar will not be allowed to contest seats in any election for a period of 5 years, starting on the date the pardon was given.
