KUALA LUMPUR – Senior Minister and Minister of International Trade and Industry Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has advised parties to not dwell too much on the politics as the government goal now is the interest of the people and the recovery of the country’s economy.
Azmin said the priority of the Muhyiddin administration is the people and economy. He encouraged parties to not play too much politics as that is not the mandate given to them by the people.
The Senior Minister also said that the statement released by Umno president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi about the party not joining Perikatan Nasional will not affect the government because UMNO is still supporting the leadership of Muhyiddin.
Perikatan Nasional is a coalition between Bersatu, Umno, PAS as well as Barisan Nasional with the support from Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
On the issue of Selangor Umno chairman Tan Sri Noh Omar saying that the party had completed 90% seat distribution for the coming general election, Azmin said he has yet to discussed this issue with the party since the general election is still far away.
When asked about the demand letter from PKR, Azmin said that he would not entertain the demand saying that even if he does have the money, he would rather give it to the people and not to a defective party like the PKR.
PKR treasurer-general Lee Chean Chung said last week that their lawyers will be issuing letter of demand to 19 PKR MPs and assemblymen who defected from the party and have them pay RM10 million each as penalty.
