Oldest leader of the world, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Prime Minister of Malaysia, has admitted that he is feeling every bit of his age at 93. He has been elected as the Prime Minister for the second time and he said that the fact is taking its toll as the he is grappling with every matter, from paying the national debt to fending off China. Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is a veteran statesman who is sharp and loves to talk straight forward. He is not at all shy to talk about all the controversial issues and frank views which includes gay rights and anti- Semitism as well.
The journey of him has not been easy at all as he has suffered from some serious health problems in the recent years. His victory for the post was quite surprising for many of the country since his broken down alliance won over the regime of Datuk Seri Najib Razak which has been named in many of the corruption cases. Dr Mahathir has taken the pledge to pay off the entire amount of national debt of RM 1 trillion. He has also cancelled some of the big and costly projects that were being backed China. But it is seen to be a risk for them as it can make the number two economy of the world not-so-happy.
His victory for the post of the Prime Minister for the second time shocked everyone which includes his own alliance too. It was also a surprise that amounted to an earthquake in the politics of the country that shook the coalition of Barisan Nasional for more than 60 years. He was accused of undermining some of the judiciary and other instructions during his first term of Prime Minister of Malaysia. He served the first term from 1981 to 2003.
