Five people needed to be rescued from an underpass that got flooded in the city of Kuala Lumpur because of heavy rainfall for more than two hours. People who needed to be rescued were left clinging to the roof of their cars which was almost merged in the Jalan Tun Razak underpass that heads towards the Kuala Lumpur City Center. Director of Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department, Nordin Pauzi, stated that the department received distress calls from all around the city so that they could rescue them from the situation.
The Fire and Rescue Department of Selangor also received some reports of mud floods in locations like Jalan Putra Hulu Langat. Director of Kuala Lumpur City Hall Enforcement Department, Azman Mahmood, also stated that the rain started at around the evening and the water began to build up in the tunnel. It also caused severe problems in different areas other than the tunnel of Jalan Tun Razak. Several roads were also reported to be damaged by the disaster. Some of the roads and areas that have been affected by the rain and floods are Jalan Pudu Ulu, Jalan Wirawati, Jalan Pudu Perdana, Jalan Kepong, and Jalan Cheras.
Several DBKL personnel have been deployed to look into the matter so that they can disperse traffic and also divert vehicles away from the affected routes. Some of the vehicles were also instructed to divert their routes from the less affected area.
