The Electoral Reform Committee has stated that it is not right for Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to go out and campaign for Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at Port Dickson as the deputy prime minister.
Tan Sri Abdul Rashid Abdul Rahman, the chairman of ERC stated that Dr Wan Azizah should have rather made appearance in the by-election campaign of her husband being the outgoing president. He has said that in case she is campaigning as party president, it is okat but it is not right for her to campaign for Anwar in her capacity as the deputy prime minister.
The former chairman of the Election Commission has stated that there are reports which show that Dr Wan Azizah’s introduction as the deputy prime ministers at these campaigns. Abdul Rashid have responded to the media and highlighted that Dr. Wan Azizah had been introduced as the deputy prime minister in these campaigns. Abdul Rashid is also known to have commented on the use of security escorts and official cars during the visit of Dr Wan Azizah which he referred to as the minor problem.
Allegedly the Special Branch of police had been used for protecting Anwar and Abdul Rashid argued that the security personnel had just been performing their function.
