KUALA LUMPUR – Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan has praised PM Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad for speaking out against India on the Kashmir issue. A move that may hamper trade relations with New Delhi.
The Pakistani prime minister acknowledges his Malaysian counterpart on standing up for the Muslims in India despite being threatened to cut palm oil purchases.
“We love and respect Dr Mahathir so much,” he said on a question and answer session at the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia.
Dr Mahathir commented last year on India’s domestic policies that includes revocation of Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomous status and their new citizenship law.
Malaysia has called for abiding by the relevant United Nations Security Council (UNSC) resolutions on Kashmir to maintain International peace and security.
