The overwhelming victory of Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is Port Dickson by-election is more than a ringing endorsement from the voters that he is next in the line to be the prime minister. Anwar have emerged as unscathed when he was done fighting against all odds in the last two weeks as he parachuted himself in the Negri Sembilan even if he was Penang-born and was going against the rivals who have disagreed with him because he was having a by-election.
However, the victory might have an effect on the ongoing party election of PKR where Datuk Seri Azmin Ali, the incumbent party deputy president is facing some serious challenges. Anwar have managed to win the presidency uncontested. A majority of the people are supporting Azmin. Moreover, he maintains a strategic relation with Anwar and Mahateer. However, Rafizi isn’t a strategic partner and his ambition is not in favor of the party even if he is promoting himself.
The victory of Anwar is going to have an effect on the party’s end result. The figures from one state to another looks quite shaky not just for Azmin but also for the members of the party are confident that Azmin is going to win even with a small majority. This is a result which is not going to go down well with the lineup which the party president has in mind.
The Port Dickson move that is quite similar to Kajang move for positioning the party president who during that time was Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail, being the Selangor Mentri Besar has seen success which is similar to Kajang move when it comes to the results of by-election. However, the Selangor Mantri Besar post has gone over to Azmin.
Anwar has earned the right for the prize. He has combed the ground of the Port Dickson constituency tirelessly that has 5 state seats meeting the old and young voters all day and night.
