An investigation is being done on PKR MP by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission over the allegation of several phantom members in one party division. Julau MP Larry Sng stated that he had been contacted by MACC over the phone when they had raided their office in Sarawak’s Julau.
However, he has refused to say what MACC had been looking for and what they had taken from their office. MACC have confirmed that PKR is actually being investigated over the allegations which have thousands of phantom members in Sarawak.
Datuk Seri Azam Baki,, the MACC deputy chief commissioners said that the operation had been conducted last Thursday regarding the allegations of vote-buying in different states during the on-going party polls of PKR. A top source in MACC has said that a visit to the PKR headquarters had been over the issue in the Julau division that is known to have many phantom members registered overnight.
The membership for Julau PKR branch member had been reported to have increased from 603 on 26th June to 13,000 within a day. A statutory declaration by the Vernon Kedit, the PKR Sarawak information on 17th October have cast a suspicion on the membership[ of over 1000 people in Julau and Sarikei branches. Sources from MACC have also said that the Julau MP Larry Sng needs to be called for an investigation.
Two members of PKR Sarawak have filed a police report regarding the phantom membership on Monday. The e-voting process had started on 22nd September and is going to end on 10th November. PKR Sabah has started to vote on 3rd November and the final state was held on 4th November.
The close race in between Ramizi Ramli and Datuk Seri Azmin Ali for the post of deputy president is going to be determined by voting in Sarawak and Sabah.
