Malaysia is all set to play against the United Arab Emirates in their second match of the 2022 FIFA World cup qualifiers program scheduled to be held at Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Jalil National Stadium today.

Yellow Jerseys (Malaysia) and White Jerseys( UAE) are a part of Group G in the second round of the 2022 FIFA World Cup along with 2023 AFC Asian Cup Joint-Qualifiers, the group also includes the Southeast Asian champions Vietnam, Thailand and Indonesia.

As UAE marks their first participation in the qualifying program today, Malaysia returns with a 3-2 win in a nail-biting game against ASEAN opponents, Indonesia in Jakarta’s Gelora Bung Karno Stadium.

A total of 40 Asian teams have been divided into eight groups with five teams in each group for the second round of the FIFA qualifiers which will be played up to June 9, 2020.

The Group winners of all eight groups along with the top four number two teams will play the AFC Asian Cup 2023 which will be held in China along with the third round which will also be the last round of 2022 FIFA world cup qualifiers expected to commence in September next year.

Top 4 teams from the third and final round will qualify for display event of Qatar whereas the team ending on the 5th slot will participate in an inter-continental playoff.

FIFA qualifiers game to be played between Malaysia and UAE starts at 8:45 PM HKT tonight.
