Malaysia has just done enough to beat South Korea with the score being 4-2 in the Asian Champions Trophy at Muscat. The win has offered the team of Roelant Oltman 9 points after 3 matches and they have managed to qualify for the semifinals with Pakistan and India matches in hand.
Malaysia has taken a lead through the Firhan Ashaari in the eleventh minute but Korea did fight back with 2 from Yang Jihun and Jang Jong Hyun. However, the goals from Tengku Ahmad Tajuddin, Shahril Saabah, and Faizal Shaari have provided Malaysia with maximum points.
In the previous matches, Malaysia is known to have defeated Japan 3-0 and Oman 3-1. After a proper start, Oltmans said that they gave excessive space to Korea. Quite unfortunately they scored twice from the penalty corners. We have dominated the 3rd and 4th quarters and have maintained the structures.
Oltmans also says that when the team is able to score 4 field goals, he isn’t too worried about their penalty corners even if it would be nice if they are able to get more of them. Malaysia is going to play against India Tuesday night. So far, both the teams have 9 points and have managed to score and concede few goals. It is going to be challenge but Oltmans says that they are looking forward to the match.
