KUALA LUMPUR – The government will ensure that all Malaysian will be included in the implementation of the Prihatin Rakyat Economic Stimulus Package (Prihatin).
According to Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, more than 53 government agencies under the stimulus package to monitor the implementation of Prihatin nationwide. The Prime minister assures the public that all groups, including in Sabah and Sarawak will be receiving the government’s assistance to east the burden and support the citizen in facing the Covid-19 pandemic.
The government has implemented the Prihatin stimulus package worth RM250 billion with Prihatin Supplementary package worth RM10 billion and RM35 billion worth of National Economic Recovery Plan (Penjana) on its battle against Covid-19 and its impact to the country.
While the number of unemployed in the country increases, Muhyiddin ensures that the initatives will somewhat reduce the impact to its people.
Muhyiddin said that the economic growth will experience significant contraction in the 2nd quarter because of the implementation of lockdowns but the economy is expected to rebound in the 3rd and 4q when the economy reopens. The Prime Minister added that the government is now formulating policies and strategies to further strengthen the economy and address the issue on socio-economic development imbalances.
