KUALA LUMPUR – Health director-general, Tan Sri Dr. Noor Hisham Abdullah said the World Health Organisation (WHO) has recognized that Malaysia has a robust health system with universal health coverage (UHC).
The World Health Organisation recognized the health system of Malaysia as having a strong program and foundation to fight the COVID-19 pandemic with its experience.
Who also recognized the country’s program on being implemented to curb the spread of the infection.
Dr. Noor Hisham thanked the WHO for its recognition and promised that the government continues to strengthen the country’s healthcare system and ensure the safety and well-being of its citizens and the recovery of the country.
He also said that the WHO stressed that the vaccine is effective in containing the spread of the virus such as smallpox, polio, and others.
However, the Health director-general stressed that the effectiveness and safety of vaccines are paramount in the application of the vaccine.
He further added that to ensure that the factors are being met, the vaccine has to go through several clinical trials and tests and should not be taken lightly.
As of the moment, there are not COVID-19 vaccines that have been approved and recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO).
