KOTA KINABALU – Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) has asked the state government to consider suspending direct flights from Wuhan, China as a precaution to minimize the spread of the outbreak of the mysterious coronavirus in Wuhan.
“There are already four coronavirus-related deaths and 198 confirmed cases reported.. this is reason enough for us to be concerned.” Information chief, Joniston Bangkuai said in a statement.
Former Sabah Tourism Board chairman Joniston criticized the state Tourism, Culture and Environment Minister Christina Liew for taking her time to study whether the KK-Wuhan flight services should be suspended.
“Is the Sabah government so hard up for tourism dollars that it is putting it ahead before the people’s wellbeing?”
Almost half a million tourists from China entered Sabah last year.
