Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) today announced a list of parliamentary spokespersons and their deputies, similar to a shadow cabinet, with specific party leaders appointed to the federal government ‘s shadow portfolios of ministers.
A statement issued by PKR chief organizing secretary Nik Nik Ahmad said the list was designed to increase the effectiveness of PKR parliamentarians, which in turn will illustrate the power and profundity of the party as a multiracial, egalitarian and efficient body.
Among those identified are Party President Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Leader of the Opposition, Datuk Johari Abdul designated to shadow the portfolio of security and home affairs, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail shadowing the portfolios of economy, living costs and consumer relations, Datuk Dr Xavier Jayakumar granted the portfolio of natural resources, water and electricity, and Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail served as Chairman of the PKR Advisory Board.
This line (of Parliamentary Speakers) offers leaders of young people and women, those with experience in federal and state governments, and those who were formerly employed in the corporate sector, to have served in trade unions.
Nik Nazmi said any decision taken by the new Perikatan Nasional Cabinet would be more efficiently reviewed and balanced with the selection of the spokespersons, which would boost the integrity which effectiveness of all PKR MPs. PKR told its partners in Pakatan Harapan of the creation of this list of PKR Parliamentary Speakers, and our Pakatan Harapan partners are currently planning for the next Parliamentary session
Other nominations include Tanjung Malim MP Chang Lih Kang, who has been named to shadow the portfolio of land, local government and education, and Nurul Izzah Anwar, granted the portfolio of youth , families and community development.
Former Deputy Health Minister Lee Boon Chee shadows the portfolio of wellness, Fauziah Salleh given the portfolio of atmosphere, Subang MP Wong Chen given the portfolio of foreign trade and business, while Nik Nazmi shadows the portfolio of education.
Other noteworthy appointments include Datuk Seri Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin, who received the portfolio of rural development, Akmal Nasir, the portfolio of youth and sports, and P’s deputy. As Lembah Pantai MP Fahmi Fadzil, Prabakaran will shadow communications, and the portfolio of art and culture.
William Leong Jee Keen was Legislative and Institutional spokesman, with R. Sivarasa will cover the portfolio of rules.
