KUALA LUMPUR – Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad has agreed to delay the allowance cut for civil servants in critical service after thousands of people signed an online petition urging the government to reverse their decision.

According to the youth and sports minister Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman, The Prime Minister made the decision this afternoon after they’ve talked about the matter. He also said that Alhamdulillah YAB PM agreed to delay the cut to first discuss it at the upcoming Cabinet meeting.

Last week, The Public Service Department announced a new policy for the next year that would cut allowances for newly hired doctors and other professionals from “critical” civil service sectors.
