The National University of Singapore announced that Prime Minister of Malaysia, Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, will be conferred an Honorary Doctor of Laws during his official visit to this island city-state. Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Singapore, in a statement said that De Mahathir will be making an official visit to the republic for not more than two days to keep the request for the invitation done by the Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong. It is also known that the conferment will be held on the second day of his visit to Singapore.
From some sources, it is known that he will be attending the Welcoming Ceremony, call on President Halimah Yacob and he will also have a meeting with the Prime Minster of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong on the very first day of his visit to the republic and the island city-state. Sources also stated that the Prime Minister, Lee Hsien Loong and also his wife will be hosting a lunch party for the visiting Prime Minister of Malaysia in honor for him. He has been accompanied by his wife and she has also been invited for the official lunch party along with the Prime Minister.
From different trusted sources, it is also known that on the second day, Prime Minister of Malaysia will be visiting the lunch that will be hosted by Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. He will also be accompanied by his wife, Dr Siti Hasmah, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah, and some other senior and higher officials to the lunch party especially for him. Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his wife will also attend a meeting with Malaysian Diaspora that is situated at Singapore to be held at Shangri La Hotel.
