Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not ever asked Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad to apologize for his own dismissal as the Deputy Prime Minister in the year 1998. As a matter of fact, the PKR Chief has shown that he had been forgiven the action of the Prime Minister in the past long ago.
He said that he hasn’t ever asked her to apologize and he is satisfied and confident with her willingness and attitude to work with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. He asks people to forget the old story and proceed. He says that it is the media that is working the issue of apology. He has forgiven Mahathir long ago. He stated that after he attended Mahatma Gandhi’s 150th Anniversary.
Anwar commented on Mahathir’s statement which admitted that he hadn’t ever apologized to Anwar formally in the special interview with international media. Dr. Mahathir had insisted that he shouldn’t be blamed for Anwar’s jail sentence since it was the decision of the court.
However, during the question-answer session at the forum which was help at Chatham House of London, Dr. Mahathir revealed that he wanted to work with Anwar. Mahathir had publicly apologized for the mistake he made in the political affair at the end of his speech in Shah Alam. Anwar had been appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister on 1st December in the year 1993 before he had been sacked by Mahathir on 2nd September in the year 1998 and had been jailed for the allegations of sodomy and corruption.
However, Anwar had been released on 16th May after he had secured full pardon from Yang di-Pertuan Agong. At present, Anwar is the candidate on 13th October in Port Dickson Parliamentary Election.
